Not only does CA have the second highest gas and diesel fuel taxes, but they also add 2.25% sales tax on gas and a whopping 9.25% on diesel. All in addition to the 24.4% federal tax on Diesel. And people wonder why I do everything possible to avoid filling up in CA!

What is sad is that California has arguably the best scenery in the lower 48! The drive up the coast north of San Francisco is a postcard at every turn. No less in NAPA valley, Yosemite or The Sequoyah. All stunning. If only the state government was less focused on agenda and more practical! Beautiful state just poorly run.

I second that emotion! Not only do we have "special" gasoline and diesel, we have great roads that the "special" taxes paid for! (NOT!)

We went to Furnace Creek in Death Valley a few weeks ago. Diesel there dropped the day we came in from $6.00 to $5.85😳. Filled up in Las Vegas for $3.45. Here in Northern California we are at $3.85

Not your imagination - but it is frustrating, waiting for the diesel price to ever so slowly come down.

In our Virginia office we just bought gas from the distributor for $2:00 gal, retail they are selling it for $2.17, dropping. Diesel drops much slower because of lower usage, have to average the price you have in the groind with what you just paid.

7,100 miles into an 8,000 mile loop of America. I 80 east from Sacramento to Pennsylvania, I 95 south to St. Augustine, I 10 west, currently in Tucson. Diesel prices ranged from 3.79 in Calif. to 2.79 in Louisiana.

Currently here on Olympic Peninsula in Pacific NW at favorite station, reg gas 2.99 with diesel at 3.34. Loyalty card reduces that by 4 cents/gal. Another station just few miles down road is 60 cents higher, go figure.

Diesel in SE Iowa is currently $2.82 and regular is $2.32. I use the Gas Guru app and it has never failed us.

Station located in Indiana on I69 Reg gas $2.24 , Diesel $3.54 using credit, $3.49 cash Rip off ( in Indiana ) they also have a little scheme you need to look out for Some places post prices as : exempt only price . Which means you get charged additional sales tax of for auto diesel

All about taxes and how much the station uses. Usage sets how quickly the prices move when they change and taxes range from .35 to .65 counting fed. tax.

I agree Fed tax is 6 c more for diesel vs gas and state taxes vary widely

The station I referenced was a truck stop and I just filled up in town for $3.19

Best thing I've found is Gas Buddy It is a great tool Not 100% accurate but very close

In NJ central area we pay $3.09 to $3.45 for Diesel but gas ranges from $2.39-$280

Something will have to change as my F350 is my only vehicle and I spend way over $200.00 per month just for work, so ridiculous what they do but they know they have us so to speak over a barrel

Diesel has been more expensive than gasoline around here for several years now.Not sure why, since Diesel is basically crude oil with the big chunks filtered out. I thought the truckers would scream bloody murder about that, but I finally realized that since they just pass the cost along to their customers, it doesn’t matter to them.

Anyway, gasoline where I buy it is around $2.55/$2.65 a gallon, and Diesel is $2.99 as of yesterday.
