Loking for information - Heading West
We are taking a two month Western trip from August 15 to October 15. Starting from Kentucky. First destination is Yellowstone National park.
I have a Chevy Silverardo with the Allison Trany and the complete towing package. I pull a 32 ft Montana 5'ver.
We will be doing most of our traveling on Interstates.
I would appreiate any information you can provide on roads, campgrounds and helpful tips.
Make it a Great Day

Bryan and Judy, I have tried to send two email messages through this forum but get the response that they cannot be delivered. I have just posted a private message. Please check your private messages and maybe I can finally make contact.

BandJ,
The east entrance into Yellowstone is only open from 8am to 8pm. They are rebuilding the entire road from the entrance up to top.
The road is open during the day but they said to expect delays of up to half hour, so you may want to choose another entrance.
Also Beartooth parkway is closed because of mudslides but the Chief Joseph is open to the NE entrance.
This info was on the Redlodge, Mt. website yesterday.

If you come on I80 You might consider stopping overnight at Mahoney State Park between Omaha and Lincoln. it is a beutiful park along the Platte River. Also the Strategic Air Meuseum (all the planes the air Force has had) is right next to the park. Also North Platte, NE has a nice small campground next to Scout's Rest Ranch (Buffalo Bill's house and meuseum) along the North Platte River. you can go to www.npgc.state.ne.us/parks for more info. we are in Omaha--can always come out to Mahoney if you stay there. PM me if you want more info.
