Converter location

I'm help a friend who owns a 2002 Montana Big Sky fifth wheel. His converter does not and I am trying to locate it.

Can someone tell me where the converter is on this unit.

I see a power center near the floor just inside the door and on the right. But nothing here looks like any converter that I've ever seen.

Thanks in advance

That early a Montana may still have a Wfco power center which had an integrated converter (akin to the current Progressive models). But more likely the converter is a standalone box behind the power panel. Remove the rear wall on the passenger side of the pass through compartment. You should be find it back there plugged into a dedicated 120V outlet.

Also, back then (mine anyways) the converter did not come with an add-on thing that helped to charge the batteries properly. Forget what it was called. It would adjust the output voltage as the battery got charged up. I had a 2006 that previous owner had added the kit (only $40+/-).

Thought this info might be helpful when repairing converter, etc.

Yup, if you are lucky enough to have the standalone IOTA DLS 45 converter behind the wall it is only a 1 stage charger. It can be upgraded to to 4 function charger by the addition of an IOTA IQ4 dongle (it plugs into the converter with what looks like a phone plug). This is a really good investment and inexpensive.

Thanks everyone

I should have looked more carefully at what was just inside the door.

It is a 7355 charger converter by power components LLC.

I just discovered that my friend was having some welding work done on the unit and a mechanic offered to let him plug his trailer into an outlet that was at the shop. Turns out this was a 220 volt outlet used for a welder. I think this smoked the converter.

Thanks again to everyone for your help.

Yea, that's not good. A good EMS unit would have prevented that from happening.
