Lots of misinformation on that chart. If you want to know the real payload capacity for your truck, look on the Tire and Loading Information sticker on the pillar by the driver's door.

Also on the SRW's the rear capacity is frequently quoted to be above the rating of the tires you can buy for them.

Please provide an example of the misinformation to which you refer.

The chart has my truck (in sig) listed at a payload of either 5914 or 5205 (don't know why there are 2 diff #s). I know for a fact that my door sticker says 4950.

Door sticker for a 2017 F350 CC PSD SRW was 3460 for payload, if I remember correctly

Sierra vs Silverado is the reason there are 2 numbers. Did you read the foot notes? "Only the highest GCWR trucks are listed in each category. There may be other models/trims available with lower ratings."

Da, I see that sierra/Silverado now. And no, I did not scowl down to the foot notes. But with that info, the chart is for the most part worthless. My Sierra went from 5900+ on the chart to 4950 on the door sticker. The chart needs to be WAY more specific.

One of the things the chart does not consider is the engine. The diesel is much heavier than the gasser, so for a diesel, the tow rating is higher and the cargo capacity is lower. Normally, diesel 250/2500 trucks are over weight not because of the tow capacity but due to the lack of cargo capacity. I've had a salesman give me the cargo capacity of a gasser...high...and the tow rating of a diesel...also high.
