Using a stove in a Monty

We recently purchased our 3731FL. My wife has read that the oven does not disperse heat evenly and one should use either a steel cooking sheet , a pizza stone or an un-glazed tile to help solve that problem. I searched archives to see if I could find an answer, but this is such a unique question, I found nothing. So here we are hoping someone has a suggestion.

My DW bakes all the time in our atwood with nothing special, She says the trick is to let it preheat awhile before you use it and when its good and hot you open and close the oven door as quickly as you can. It actually works real nice. Bread, cakes, cookies all come out good. she says because the oven is small most people open the door too much or just light it and then use it and it burns or dosent cook evenly.

I use a 12x12 tile under the rack in mine. Ours like many tends to burn what ever we cook on the bottom.

We use a pizza stone in ours and cooks well. Would brown a little too much on the bottom before we got the stone.

X2 on 12x12 tile and preheat. We use a thermometer probe to measure the temp. Works great!

Our furron came with a stone that fit it. Shortly after we got ours folks started reporting that they didn't get one.

Besides the oven, we also have Convection Microwave and we have started using it to back a few things and it works well but you do have to preheat again and also normally add a few minutes to the cooking time.

We love our Convection/Microwave as it exhaust the heat outside and doesn't heat up the inside like a regular gas oven. Tends to save on AC when your in Hot climates.

I think the major issue with rv ovens is that they heat well below what the gas know indicates and use of an accurate thermometer is needed to understand what temperature it is at for any baking job. Trying to bake something at a wildly different temp than a recipe doesn't work to well. I can bake some things on my gas grill as well as the oven when I don't want to heat the inside of the rv.

Our Furion did not come with a stone as well, although they suggest using a pizza stone when cooking larger cuts of meat, we use ours for everything and have much better results.

We too use a pizza stone to even out the heat and it seems to work well. My wife uses the oven a lot and has noticed that you need to make the stone is centered on the bottom so the heat distributes evenly.

I think that is a problem with virtually every RV oven; our 2018 3791 actually came with an unglazed stone that fits perfectly in the oven. Previously, I used a small air bake cookie sheet to place my cooking dish on to prevent burning.

Some use pizza stones, but we do the same as Lynwood - a leftover 12 x 12 floor tile from renovating our sticks & bricks bathroom.

We bought a new 3791RD last year. We also had heating issues with the oven. After several months I was looking under the bed, in the storage area, and I found a small thin box. Inside was a unglazed stone that fit perfectly in the oven base. No paperwork as to what it was, or where to put it was found. I finally found a spot it fit real nice and fired up the oven. The heat was much better. It didn’t jump around like before. You would think the dealer would instal it being it was already there. Or st least tell you about it. Oh well. That’s what I would expect from the factory and the dealer.
So far it hasn’t broke while traveling. I actually thought it might crack with all the rough roads.

Best of luck to you.

We have a couple flat rectangular cast iron plates that we put in the oven when baking.
