New RVers
Hi, We are Mike and Nesta in Ontario. We have just bought our first RV. 2004 Montana 3380RL. It will stay at the dealers till spring as we still do not have a truck. We have found your topics very helpful so far and hopeing to learn more from you all as the winter goes on. The truck search is very confusing with so many opinions of what size truck to get. we are listening and will post questions as they come up. thanks.
Mike and Nesta Newnham

Welcome Mike and Nesta to the MOC. Your choice of the 3380RL is a good one and I am sure you will have many years of terrific RV adventures in it.
Do not hesitate asking your questions as that's what the MOC is all about, Rvers helping RVers.

Welcome aboard, Mike and Nesta, and congratulations on the new 3380. That's a beautiful model. You are fortunate to have several good choices in trucks to tow your Montana. As others said, feel free to ask questions. Good luck.

Welcome and congrats on your purchase!! Now for the long wait 'til spring. The good news is you have plenty of time to research your new truck. Please feel free to post any questions you have as someone here will more than likely have an answer for you.

I don't know whether to congratulate you on your new 3380 or console you for having to wait until Spring. Welcome to MOC Forum. Nice group of people on the MOC and I say that without ever having met any of them in person.

Mike and Nesta - Welcome aboard and congrats on the new Monty. Part of the excitment is the anticipation for the arrival of Spring. The other exciting part is getting her home, loading up and taking off on that first trip!

congrats on your new Montana. And welcome to the forum. You did the smart thing in buying the 5er first.Like others have said take your time in your truck purchase. The one thing I would recommend is get more truck then you will think you need. Also consider a diesel. But you have all winter to do some research, thats if your not up at the dealers every other day just looking at your new Montana.I hope as i`am sure you do that this winter will fly by.And a early spring will bring back my camping smile once again.

welcome and congrats! take your time in the search for the truck if you don't need it until spring. do your research.every year things change with each brand. everyone here has something different...and different opinions. the thing to remember is that I may tell you something about a certain brand vehicle, but a year later it may not be the same. when I bought my chevy, I went directly to each dealership...(ford and chevy) asked for the manager...and told him I needed to speak to his most knowledgable truck salesman. seeing the amount of weight I was going to pull I wasn't going to play around. I told the salesman that I was already sold on buying a new vehicle so they could skip the sales pitch and just give me the specs.

Welcome to the MOC, Mike and Nesta! What part of Ontario do you hail from, maybe we're neighbours! I don't know how you handle having a new unit and only being able to go and look at it....we, couldn't wait. The anticiapation will just increase the enjoyment of picking it up in the spring!! Good luck with you truck search!!

Mike and Nesta -
Congratulations on your new purchase. Best of luck in your search for the "perfect" tow vehicle. You will find that there is a thread under the General topic and also the Tow Vehicle area. Your confusion was shared by most of us when we were first getting started. For Terrie and I, it was just last July. You will find the people here helpful and full of ideas. When you look at trucks you will find that Ford, GM and Dodge all have good trucks that will do the job. You need to ask yourself Gas or Diesel, overall length (Std, Club or Crew), short bed/long bed, etc. Where will you store it, how else will you use it (mine is also my hunting vehicle), do you ever tow a boat (I do), etc. As long as you get the Heavy Duty 3/4 ton or larger and towing package, you should be able to find something that will handle your rig. Lots of posts on that as well. Have fun and enjoy the anticipation.

Nesta and Contau Lake: I guess we are all within a couple of hours of each other as Ann and I are from Napanee. I can't help myself after reading your post re the weather. We are enjoying the 80's of Texas right now.
Nesta, happying hunting for your truck. We also had our unit before the tow vehicle. It is the best way to do it.
