Fresh water fill

We have a 2014 3900FB. We usually have sites that have water. We are going to be camping for a week without a water hookup and am wondering how do people add fresh water without having to move their rig? The 3900 does not have a fresh water fill that I can fill from a jerry can. Only a fresh water hookup. Any suggestions?

Posting moved to a more appropriate category.

You could use one of these, plus you might want to get a 12 volt pump from Harbor Freight to pump the water into your system.

Thanks Bob - I like the idea of the pump!

What I did was replace my original pump on the Monty with a better one and keep the original as a spare of for use in this type of situation.

The easiest way to fill the fresh water tank while boondocking is to use the Winterizing system. Read this posting (the title is about sanitizing but don't let than stop you), particularly the posting from Woodtic on the second page to understand how this works.

How far away from a water spigot will you be located? I carry three of the wind-up flat hoses for this reason. With the regular hose and these hoses I can reach approx. 100' to 125'. We have some state parks that do not have water at the site and we use the extra hose as described.

Now don't judge my redneck ways here folks. I carry a clean 30 gallon plastic barrel for this purpose. I fill the barrel on the back of the truck and take back to the rig where, after dropping it off the truck, I use an old rv pump rigged with a length of 1" pvc for a drop pipe in the barrel and fill through the power fill option of the city water connection. I've found it best to shut the rig pump off while doing this. It's worked well for us since we bought this rig and on the prior one. We got the barrels from the local water treatment plant-they get their chemical for water treatment in them. Just sanitize as you would your fresh water tank prior to using it. I power the pump off the 12 volt plug in the basement.

As was said the winterize set up will work without requiring a second pump. Get a 5 gal container full of water, screw in a short hose (3or 4 ft)as though winterizing,(the sanitize spigot) put the other end in the container, open the valve for "tank fill" and turn on the onboard pump. Here in Ontario the provincial parks do not have water on the sites, and the communal water outlets almost never have threads on them so I have done this refill method many times.
