Back From Our First 2 Months

Well, we're back from our first long trip...2 months!!! We stayed at the US Air Force Academy Fan Camp for the majority of the time and were able to take the motorcycle (compliments of my swivel wheel trailer) up Pike's Peak and out to Cripple Creek to see the Apens change! On the way we stayed at the Fam Camp at Tinker AFB (very nice and we were able to take in downtown OK city and the bombing memorial...very moving), a KOA in Goodland Kansas, a Good Sam park in Amarillo and OK City, as well as a short stay in Albuquerque, NM with my cousin to take in the balloon fest.

All in all the trip was "liberating" and the wife and I were VERY pleased with the 3400...except for the mission tires which were replaced by Tireco for free. I now have Pressure Pro sensors on all the 3400's tires as well as the swivel wheel. The 99 Ram did great, with the mods, and all total from Florida and back I got 12.4 mpg. The macerator pump made dumping the tank ALOT less messy and we even figured out how to make the Direct TV work (we did the local channel thing...didn't tell them we were in an RV!)....I did have to add another line so we could take advantage of our DVR. I basically pulled the fireplace out and put a cable box on the outside of the slide and had access with the fireplace removed. We're thinking the only mods we want/need are probably an all-in-one washer/dryer and maybe a electric vac from Walmart with a beater bar!

We can't wait for our next opportunity to break away with the 5th wheel...especially with the price of diesel down. Hopefully we'll run into some of you out there!!!

Sounds like a great trip and great performance out of the 3400. We have been to most of those places. As a FAA person I was in and out of that building many times in OKC so the memorial was especially moving for me. Had many a steak dinner at the "O" club at Tinker.
