Good video, I wonder how many transmissions it went through in the 897,000 miles.

No question about the quality of that engine. It would be interesting to hear how the Mercedes truck tranny is holding up in these trucks.

I agree, I was wondering the same thing on the trany also, nothing was mentioned about it. but the artical was realy about the Cummins engin and its life span, I also learned about my exhaust braks and how it works that was interresting, I also liked the new type water seperator/fuel filter and the ease of changing and refilling it.

We were at an RV dealership last fall when a commercial hauler delivered a unit right next to us. I couldn't help myself and struck up a conversation. He had 850,000 miles on his Cummins. I mentioned the transmission and he claimed the trannys last between 180-200,000 miles. He also said not put use a rebuilt tranny, but install another brand new tranny. He said the rebuilt's just don't hold up. I didn't question the cost of a new tranny versus a rebuilt.

I think that is a job that must be a "to do list"

Very interesting video. It didn't say whether it's automatic or standard. The newer automatic with the 6.7L so far have been bulletproof. At 78k mine has been fantastic. I doubt I'll ever live long enough to hit 897,000 miles but I sure wouldn't mind it lasting a long time yet!
I use the exhaust brake a lot. Always when towing and often when solo in mountains.
As for the fuel filter, the one they show that's so easy to change is a newer version of the 6.7L. Apparently they listened to the complaints and move it to be more accessible. On mine I have to take a few screws out and remove the inner wheel well, the plastic part, to get at the fuel filter. I like the new setup better.
