Square bit type screws in the Montana

I have been to Menards, Lowes and Home Depot and I cannot find the screws that Keystone uses in the Montana. Anyone have a way to resource those. Apparently there are at least 2. A flat head and a pan head. I want to stay with the square bit type for my mods and I am stumped on where they hide them. I talked with Keystone and was told the big box stores have them and look for something called Quatro. No Luck!

They are called Robertson head, however I doubt they know that. The big box stores should have them. You may try a good RV store.

Look for those screwdrivers that come with various bits. You know the ones that have torx and phillips and flat and they will have various sizes of Robertson head drivers etc that will fit on or in the screwdriver handle. Actually not a bad thing to have in the tool box for just in case. Now if you are gonna do some major screwing you might want to look for one with a good handle instead. Boy that didn't come our right did it, but you get the picture......

Oooops I thought we were looking for the screwdriver????? That's what I get for writing and posting late at night when I shoulda went to bed.....lol lol

Any screw of the same size and type will work fine...I quit using the "RV" screws years ago.

It is unfortunate for the American public not to have had good sources of Robertson head screws until recently. The screws that have pretty well become standard in the RV construction industry are a combination of the Robertson and Phillips screw heads. While they don't hold onto either bit as well as the Robertson does they can be used with either bit.

It is an interesting history of the best screw ever invented and learn why they have never been used in the drywall industry. We in Canada insist on them for most of our applications and will not use a slotted screw unless forced to do so.

Interesting read: http://www.robertsonscrew.com/history.html

Get used to the "square" head and combination head because they are here to stay..
