Across NY and Vermont
My friends on the forum have been very helpful to me as I continue to plan for an RV trip from East Texas to Maine. I'd like to ask for a bit more.
Here are the givens: We will be staying at Arrowhead Marina and RV Park Northwest of Albany/Trop (near Hwy 50 N.). We need to go across to I-91 N. There are several alternative routes. I would appreciate comment on the connecting routes across NY and VT.
+ Hwy 50 N to Glens Falls area then US 4 to I-91
+ Through the cities to NY 7 (VT 9) all the way to I-91
+ A variation on the above to US 7 to VT 11 to I-91
Of course the segments I'm weighing are US 4, NY7/VT 9, or US 7/VT 11.
Weigh in if you have any personal experience, and I will be grateful.

Having spent most of my life in southern Vermont, I would opt for the NY 7 to VT 9 route through Bennington and Brattleboro. The roads are easy to manuever and you get a feel for the true VT style with the Green Mountains, historic towns, Covered bridges, etc. There is a State park in Woodford on a lake that is beautiful. Enjoy the trip whichever route you decide. Great breakfasts at the Blue Benn Diner in Bennington or Dots diner in Wilmington.

We made the trip yesterday from Brattleboro Vermont to Wells Maine on Routes 9, 89, 93, 101 and 95. All but 95 in Maine we very good roads.
While visiting the Brattleboro area we traveled a portion of 91 up to exit 9 in Vermont which in general is in good shape although they are repairing several bridges so you will encounter some construction if heading north.

Thanks, Dustin and John, for your helpful responses.
I am still working on the plans for this particular segment of our trip which will begin exactly one week from today (June 21).
The reason I am thinking of the Hwy 50 routes is that we are so near to that intersection, and taking it would avoid driving through the cities of Schenectady and Troy. I wonder how congested it might be early in day to make that urban drive?
