Posting photos in the MOC

OK!! I'm new to the MOC...how do you get your photos in here. Do you have to have your own website? Does someone host your photos and provide you with a URL? Is this something I can do with Yahoo!! or MSN? Somebody help me here!!!

Just found this site yesterday for hosting photos you may want to use in your signature, avatar or within your post/replys.
Tiny Pic
They will send the link to you in an email

Have any further questions, just ask.

The avatar is a very good start. From here on it just gets easier.

So true...looking at your signature Glen, we also have an Aussie mix. Best dog I've ever had. She's black and her name is Raven. She likes RVing almost as much as me.

Masonsand, if you don't mind my asking, where was the picture of your rig taken? That electrical post looks really familiar. Elkhart County Fairgrounds, maybe? Or maybe it was somewhere else we saw posts like that. Thanks.

Lakeside RV park in Livingston, LA. I've actually listed this park in the campgrounds section of the MOC site. Click the link below and then click slideshow. I guess I've probably given you way more info than what you really wanted. Sorry!!!

It's never more info than I want! I save this kind of info for future reference. I'm going to click on the link soon as MOC returns me to this thread after clicking the post new reply button. Thanks!

Looks like a nice park! I need to sit down and plan our route for early January.

That is an excellent question sir. What is an "Avatar"? Not having a clue myself, and trying to complete my profile, I did a Google search using the word Avatar. I would encourage you to do the same. The meaning of the word might surprise you and cause you to wonder how in the world they came up with that word to use in the context it is used on this website. Let me just say that if you go to tinypic.com (thank you Glenn) and upload a photo, it will give you a tiny (hence the name tinypic) URL where that photo has been hosted on the web. You take that URL and type it in the avatar "field" on your profile page in this forum, and when you view your posts you will see that photo on the left hand side under your user name. When applying the definition of the word avatar to what you just did, I think that makes you somewhat of a supreme being. I challenge you to do the Google search and see if what I just typed makes any sense to you. I'd be interested in your comments, or anyone else's for that matter. In fact here's the link
http://www.avatara.org/essay.html. Check it out.

This may answer the "how in the world they came up with that word to use in the context it is used on this website"

Avatar
1. An image representing a user in a
multi-user virtual reality (or VR-like, in the case of
Palace) space.
2. (CMU, Tektronix) root, superuser. There are quite a
few Unix computers on which the name of the superuser
account is "avatar" rather than "root". This quirk was
originated by a CMU hacker who disliked the term
"superuser", and was propagated through an ex-CMU hacker at
Tektronix.

In this definition we are all, well I know am, superusers.

LOOK up down the road, it's a travel trailer, it's a 5th wheel, NO it's SUPERUSER

Reality, or in this case, virtual reality, is so boring. I agree...Glenn you need to be a little busier, busyer...Glen you need to find something else to occupy your time.

Think maybe I'll change my User Name, how about Superuser and Superuser Lady???

But than again the real MOC Superuser is

Thanks, Sandy and Susan! Think I got it figured out! That "Avitar" site was most interesting....there must have been some cosmic connection somewhere in "geekdom" to come up with that term for computer use..

Best,
