Question on selling

We are thinking of selling our 2950RK 2005 model. Have used it only for weekends. A week was the longest time. It has all the stuff,central vac,fireplace,arctic package etc: My question is doing some research, It looks like it still retails for about 23,500, or 24,000. I would like to get somewhere in the 20-21 range with the hitch. Are these prices realistic? or pie in the sky? Don't worry you won't hurt my feelings :-) I am trying to get some real input from the people who see these and are involved.

Starting to consider trading up, I have looked at prices for my 2007 3075RL. NADA shows $23k ((low retail) to $28k (avg retail). Rvtrader.com has several same year and model listed from $19k to $28k, peeling decals and all. Of course those are asking prices. What they would settle for is anyone's guess. I have tried a couple dealer web sites with "what is the value of my RV buttons. But they would not give any number via email without a phone call, even a ball park number. And I was not yet ready to start talking to salesmen. A little hard to believe it would sell for $25k when I only paid $40k 8 yrs ago. But then NADA has it as a list price of $50k.

One thing that may affect your price is the age. I know some lenders have age limits on how old an RV they will finance. Have not checked lately but last time I looked my bank would only finance up to an 8 yr old RV.

Many variables, with condition being a major factor. 2005, ten years old, I would not pay 24k.

I would try it. What have you got to lose, unless you need an immediate sale? The good ones do seem to move in that price range. I just had to have ours appraised by an appraiser chosen by the insurance company and I won't even put here what they appraised it at because no one is going to believe it. We have made a lot of expensive modifications, but the appraisal came out where we wanted it. Of course it was loss value, not sale value, but still these Monty's seem to hold their value pretty well.

I checked Nada Guides and didn't put any specs for what your rig contains and came up from 14.8K to 17.8K. You could get more if you put in what it's got. Please prepare yourself. Even if you gold-plated parts of your rig, folks will always try to get more out of you. It seems to be a buyer's market for rigs most of the time.

When we were shopping for our first used Montana we looked at Craig's List and RV-Trader. Even though we checked some ads by dealers we concentrated on ads by private sellers. The only ones I took seriously were the ones that were prices at, or just below NADA value. It also did not matter to us if it was located 10 miles away or 200 miles away.

We just listed a Jeep Wrangler on Craig's list about 10 days ago. It had some extras so I had it listed slightly over NADA and Kelly Blue Book value. The first three or four days I got 2 or 3 calls. Lowered the price to barely below NADA and Kelly Blue Book and started getting tons of calls. Yesterday while at the buyers bank collecting my money I was still getting calls from folks wanting to come and look at it.

IMHO price is what will sell your unit. The higher the price the longer it will take to sell it.

A large consignment dealer in Houston is PPL. They have a place on their web site where you can see what something actually SOLD for for the last 2 years. May give you some insight.

Thanks for the input. I probably going to shoot for about 18-20 with a slider hitch thrown in. I will have to see what that does.

I would think 20 would be a fast sell if you are happy with that number. And if the buyer is hesitant, it gives you the opportunity to give out a big sigh, frown, and say, OK I will take 19.5.
