I just learned...
I just learned that B&W recommends a pad to go under the Companion Hitch for the 2011 Fords. They will send one out free. Mine is on the way. They do that to protect the rib design in the floor of the 2011 Fords. They recommend it be used even if you have a spray-in Bed liner.
I found this out by reading the installations instructions again. There was a small note in a little box in the corner that caught my eye. I called the installer who put in the hidden rails of the ball hitch to find out if he knew this. He did not, but was very glad to get the info because the majority of his installations are in 2011 Fords. He should read the flyers the manufacturer sends.
Sometimes good things happen when you read the instructions.

Not until I get it, but it is designed to fill the valleys between the ribs. I suspect that it is not too thick on the ribs.

I though and assumed that Ford was using the same box as the earlier models. That is very interesting, as I have the B & W and would continue to use the same hitch on a new truck.

The B&W technician said that this was only recommended for the 2011 Ford. It makes me question what gauge material the new box is being constructed from.

Instructions?! We don't need no stinking instructions! Sorry. I could not resist.
Travel safely, Dennis.

Good catch Stiles!
That goes against our nature to read instructions.

The old 2008-2010 need this mat. The ribs in my truck have flattened out a little bit from the weight of the camper and the constant pounding the bed takes. I'm going to call and buy one for my truck. Thanks Stiles
