Onboard air

Just ordered my air bags to help with my bucking problem. Have been looking at the onboard compressors with reciever and controls in the cab. Would like it to adjust pressure in my tires also. The heavy duty Firestone compressor has a 35% duty cycle and .57 CFM @100PSI. From the experience out there, is this big enoiugh to fill a 2-3 gallon reciever in a timely manner. Would a standard compressor be adequate.

Do you really need to go to the expense of an on-board compressor? We have air bags and I check them periodically and air them up as needed with my little 12-volt compressor/emergency light combo.

I admit it would be nice to have the on board-air but I could not see spending that much money when I could just use the 12v pump that I already had! Takes no time to plug in and pump them up.

I have the on board Firestone compressor and I'm completely underwhelmed with it. It takes FOREVER to pump up the air bags. So much so, that I added an external valve so I can pump them up with my regular air compressor.

I have a VIAR compressor with a 5 Gallon Tank, air pressure switch, and use for airhorns and filling tires.
From Empty, it takes about 20 minutes to fill my 5 Gallon Tank to 140 PSI. But 'day to day' it runs for about 3-4 minutes whenever the pressure gets low enough to activate the switch, about every 2-3 weeks usually.
Installation was not hard, but very time consuming and I'm on my second ignition switch relay activator - need to upgrade to better relay...

Thanks for the input. I do like my toys, but also like my money. Will have to reconsider how I want to do. Now if the DW will let me get a Honda EU2000 then I wouldn't have a problem running my little portable compressor.
