Campground discounts

Well, we stayed at a CG in San Antonio that once was Passport America. Unfortunately they gave up that discount.

Being the nosy person that I am, I inquired as to "why."

What I was told is that they set aside a specific amount of sites for discounts. They stated that in the brochures of PA, and their on-site information, it states to call ahead for availability. If their discount sites are full they will have "no availability." What was happening was travelers showing up without calling and "demanding" a site when they were told they had none available. People were rude when told of the no availability. So, because of the few the masses get penalized.

Knowing the procedure will now help me when I call for a site. When I tell them I'm PA, or any other discount, and they tell me there is no availability I will ask if the have a non-discount site available. It just might help me not drive another 100 miles or so.

There are folks who read nothing, therefore know little and are insulted when it is brought to their attention. We do always call ahead PA or not and will tell the C.G we are PA or whatever. We have never been turned away or had a problem.
