Toiletpaper question

Is it really necessary to use the RV toilet paper? That stuff is awful. Does anybody use regular toilet paper?

We have used regular TP with no issue. Would stay away from the "extra strong" rolls.

Angel Soft works well as does many other brands. I would not use Charmin. Even our septic tank guy said he didn't recommend it for home septic tanks as it was slow to break up.

We have used Scott RV tissue for the last 6 years and it works for us. Don't experiment because I don't intend to go arab and wipe with my hand

We use the Kirkland brand also. Didn't know it was septic safe however. I don't think it really matters what brand you use as long as you put lots of water in the tank after you have drained it. We always put down 3 full bowls of water. Works for us and we dry camp for 4 months in Quartzsite every winter.

Does not matter what kind since anyone using our toilet including my wife and are instructed to put it in the small plastic bagged trash can next to the toilet. I have sign behind the toilet that states " If it did not come out of you body, it does not belong it this toilet". That bag is trashed daily and assures there will be no TP clogging up the waste valves.

Another vote for Scott RV paper.

We used to swear by Angel Soft until they changed their formula.

TP

3 RV's, 11 Years : Not ONE backup. We have always used whatever brand is on sale (if we like it). We Dump at least once a week and make sure plenty of water in black tank. Fill the tank several more times till it comes out clean. The tissue is rarely in the tank long enough to break down, it is visible thru clear section when dumping but has not been a problem.

I don't think the brand or consistency much matters. I have learned that it's more important to use twice as much water as you think necessary.

???? I don't understand..... the dirty toilet paper goes into a garbage can, not the toilet. I can't imagine the reason for that. These people report no problems in years..... what am I missing?

No doubt about that!

My astonishment may have come across as being rude. Sorry about that.

Youre not missing a thing. Some people do the separate bag thing; it's their decision but I think it's kind of gross. I've seen it done overseas and in Mexico. Of course, in some locations, TP isn't even provided.

Now this is one funny thread of information. Some of it sounds like crap. Sorry couldn't resist.

There is nothing gross about it at all. You can empty the can as often as you like. If it gets really ugly you my have to do it right away. LOL.

Having said that, I am in the process right now replacing all 3 waste valves and cables on my monty. The black tank was so hard to open and close I had to push or pull with both hands to actuate it. I had been waiting for the cable to break.

When I got that valve out it was clear that the seals were in really bad shape.

I replaced the junk Bristol valves with Valerrta valves and cables and corrected the way they were run from the factory witch was horrible, sharp bends/nothing anchored and cables either too long or too short.

ANother vote for Scott RV TP. The softest RV paper I have found and available at most Walmarts.
