DIRECT TV in HD

Is Direct tv in HD yet for portable antennas? I had heard they were to start back around April (2019).

From what I have found so far - not yet. The theory seems to be they are deactivating SD channels on the 101 satellite (the one the portable dish uses). This will allow them to broadcast HD in the freed up bandwidth.

I have no idea if the channels they move to HD on 101 are ones that I care about.

A merger might or might not solve the problems. When Sirius merged with XM the two still didn't, and don't to this day, have the same basic programing. I can get the NFL and NASCAR free on our truck but would have to pay an arm and a leg to get it in the car. The same is true the other way, but I don't care about the baseball channel etc. They claim it's existing contracts with providers.
