Pagosa Springs Colorado
Does anyone have recommendations for campgrounds in Pagosa Springs? One we had looked at on the web was Pagosa Riverside Campground, but the reviews weren't great. Wolf Creek Run Motorcoach River Park looks nice, although expensive, but do they allow 5th wheels or just Class A?
We're looking at staying a few nights and would prefer a river or lake, quiet and spots not right on top of each other.
Thanks for any help.

Don't know about any campgounds there but the if a great song by C W McCall that talks about going over Wolf Creek Pass. Two guys in an old truck with a load of red island reds (chickens) and brake failure.

Just my opinion, but there are much nicer places to stay on the east side of Wolf Creek in South Park along the river. I don't have specifics but I drive past them all the time.
If you like lakes, Navajo Reservoir State Park (CO) is 17 miles west of Pagosa, and 21 miles south. Nice campground.

I agree with Brad, every time we drive through South Park on the way down to Durango we always say we need to stay there but never have. There seems to be one nice campground after another along that stretch and all by the river.

Brad,
Sounds like a plan, we were leaving for the Black Hills next Friday but I could always "stay home".

We stayed at a campground in Pagosa that didn't look too good when we pulled in but it was fine and the people were very nice. It was up the hill West of the downtown area on the North side. Sorry, I can't remember the name but I think it may have been a passport America park. I think there may be other parks on the east side of Wolf Creek but then you wouldn't really get to see Pagosa without a long day trip. John
