Look at my past posts about installing my solar system. I've been all over our electrical system and there's NOTHING ANYWHERE that uses or has 240v. Just because the anaconda is big and heavy doesn't mean it's providing 240v, although it could. It actually just brings TWO 30 amp circuits to it's end and it's what happens after that determines the voltage used inside your 5er. Your (and mine) power panel has TWO 30 amp breakers that take the two 30 amp feeds into different parts of your 5er.

Never have heard of using 220v. All are 120v 15 to 50 amps.. 15 amp is 3000 watts and 50 is 6000 watts. Sorry for the misfortune..

True there are no 240 volt appliances in a RV but there could be. Ozz installed a 240V dryer in his 2008 3400 many years ago.

The power from a 50 amp RV pedestal is two, count them two, lines each delivering 50 amps on each leg. This means there is 100 amps available to the RV. The power panel in every rig I have seem since 2004 has two 50 amp breakers, one for each input line, not 30.

Here is a picture of what the panel looks like on a 2012 Montana.

Sorry to here about the damage. Our Montana is 50 amps. We keep it stored on our property. Living in an old house without A/C finally got to us. This weekend, we ran a 50 amp line from a dedicated breaker and have a 50 amp outlet outside. Been sleeping in air conditioned comfort since Sunday!

And I will add that if you put your voltmeter leads across the two poles of that 50 amp breaker the meter will show 240 vac.

My 50 amp breaker is at the far left side of my panel. And the sub breakers to the right of it alternate between hot 1 and hot 2. As a result I could simply plug in a two pole breaker in two of my unused slots and have a 240 vac sub breaker for a 240 vac dryer just like Oz.

The popcorn removers are in the house and we are in the RV out front. So far all is good but the radar oven doesn't light up. It may be toast. The breaker is ok so I will investigate further. Hoping for a good outcome but I may have to order one from camping world.

I wanted to put in an RV plug on the side of my garage when we bought our 5er. I asked the service manager where I bought the unit, who knew everything, tell me to put in a breaker with 30 amp on one side and 20 amp on the other! That adds up to 50, doesn't it? Well, I've been around electricity my whole life and all I could say, not to his face, is what a dumbass!!! I got it installed correctly with no other help. Can't believe he would think that would actually be correct. I guess technically it would, but not the most desirable.

No one is laughing by the way as this is a common occurrence. It's why I believe all units should come with Surge and EMS systems standard.

Hope the s/b remodel goes well. That popcorn looks good when it's new but a mess to remove. We've been looking at houses to downsize and popcorn is a deal killer unless it's the otherwise perfect house at a price that allows immediate removal.

I didn't have mine checked because the mess you have to clean up afterwords. It cost more than I expected but then again I live in ca. These guys did a impressive job. They did a full hazmat style removal.

I thought my Progressive serge protector would have stopped excessive current from getting buy but that was not the case. Now that I know it will never happen again.

There should be a label on the cover on the RV letting us know that it's 120 volts @30/50 amps.

I have searched the web a number of times for a good site showing exactly how a 50 amp 120/240 vac single phase/split phase RV system works so that every time the question comes up I could simply supply a link to that site for the complete answer. But I have not been able to find any at all. Electricity is a mystery for many. But it is really a fairly simple concept when broken down into simple steps and presented with schematics and explanations of how each component acts/reacts in an electrical circuit. And how voltages and currents are developed and distributed. But it would require that someone create a video on a whiteboard/blackboard with schematics and step by step explanations, or for someone to create a great slide show or power point presentation with the same. And in doing so, keeping it at the simplest level in any technical terms. You really do need schematic diagrams and simple dialog to grasp the concept unless you have had some previous electrical experience/education.

Surprised someone has not done that. Or maybe I just have not found it yet.
