Direct TV set up
We are considering adding Direct TV to our 5th wheel. We're looking for something we can take dry camping. We've looked on Amazon and only get more confused by the SWM tech verbage. What's the best and easiest set up for DTV? And can we use the connections that came with the coach on the outside or do we need to hook it up directly from the dish to the TV?
Thanks in advance!

Dish Network is more RV user friendly. Have you considered them?

Have used Directv for years, never a problem. Outside we go from the antenna to the sat hookups in the convenience center. Inside we use the coach connection path to the receiver and then out to the TV. Unlike some, we have never had problems with coach coax wiring.

Ransal: what is the year and model of your RV? It makes a great deal of difference. I have run DirecTV for 14 years in two RVs. DirecTV has some challenges depending on what you want to do. If you don't care about HD, then it is easy. But that will change soon as DTV moves most everything to HD.

Have used Dish before, yes easy but I have DirecTV at home and can take a dvr with me. Need Satellite dish. HD is pricey, which is ok as long as I get HD on 55 inch. I was told at RV show the hookup is easy on this model. Anyone done it yet on a 2020 or a bit too early??

I have Direct TV with our 2014 3582RL. We use a portable Wingard satellite. Works great. We use a HR24 receiver and also take our bedroom receiver and put it in the bedroom of the 5th wheel, it is a DVR. We have to change the settings on the receiver to match our portable satellite automatic dish. We do not get HD. We hook up the cables to the service center and it works great. The nice thing about the portable dish is that if you park under a tree you can position the dish so it has a clear shot at the satelite. Direct TV is moving a bunch of channels from the 101 satellite to another satellite so eventually I will have to purchase a new satellite dish but I am waiting until they are done with their new set up.
