I don't use any additive, and don't think the Chevy needs it.. I really don't think it works. But if it works for you, then use it... At one time I did use Diesel clean but found it really made no difference. Happy Trails...

My brother has a 06 Dmax. It got to where it was not ruining right. Rough idling, hesitating, he put some diesel clean in it and it cleared right up. This was only about a month ago. I also thought you didn't any kind of additive but I'm not so sure now.

I don't use any additives but do try to ensure that the fuel I purchase is at a place that sells a lot of diesel. I think that by doing that I reduce the chance of getting stagnant/contaminated fuel.

FYI on Texas diesel. My source is second hand (mechanics and shop people) so take it for what it is worth. The 6.7L Scorpion engine runs better on 42+ cetane rating. Most Texas sold diesel has a cetane rating averaging 38. Diesel cetane rating is not monitored as closely as the octane rating in gasoline. The additive boosts the cetane rating making the engine run better.
I ran out of additive and ran a couple of tanks without it. The result was that my mileage dropped about 1-1/2 mpg. Today I filled up and added the additive. Sure enough, in a few miles, the mileage started climb back up toward what I had been getting before I ran out. This may be an anomaly, so I will be continuing to monitor.
The additive also adds lubrication to the diesel that was lost when the sulfur was taken out.

I use Opti-Lube for lubrication. Can't hurt.

I have been running the Motorcraft additive in my truck. Can't really tell it improves milage but makes me fell more secure about taking care of the engine.

Thanks for the response, I did a number of searches on diesel forums about fuel additivies and the biggest response was the tc-w3 oil from wally world as an additive with power service next, helps keep injectors clean and works as a lubrication due to the lack of sulfer.

With an older (95) Cummins engine I run a little TRW 2 stroke oil in mine. It helps lube the injector pump and quiets it down a lot.

The Ford is designed to run on fuel with a cetane level of 45. Most are at a level of 40/42. That is like running a car with a low octane level. It does make a difference in performance and MPG. Do some homewwork on the subject.

I use SEAFOAM on occasion to clean the injectors. I also add a little Marvel Mystery Oil for lubrication....but again, only on occasion. I have never used a cetane booster. Maybe I'll try some. Lord knows I could use something to improve my fuel mileage.

Stanadyne is the ONLY additive approved by GM.

We live and drive in the Rocky Mountains and drive in year-round weather from 90+ degrees down to Minus 40 degrees).
In very cold weather, with Diesel engines, always use an additive such as Power Service (that we use) when the temperature is much below feezing. You will regret it if you let your Diesel Fuel gell in the winter. If it evr happens to you, I guarantee that you will never let it happen again.
Thoughout the rest of years, warmer times, I usually add a little Diesel Kleen with every fourth or fith fillup About a cup per 30 or 40 gallons). I believe it keeps my engines running better.
