Towing doubles

I have recently purchased a 2018 Montana 5th wheel. It has a rear hitch with a 2” receiver. I was told it is for cargo racks. Can I use it for pulling a 12’ cargo trailer loaded with a Rzr? Approximately 2500 lbs total weight.
Thank you

No, unless it is not the factory hitch. The factory hitch is extreamly light weight and is intended for only about 250 or 350 lbs of cargo. Go to a custom hitch shop where they can build you a suitable hitch for your needs.

The frame on these campers are barely strong enough to support the camper and that is with the support added from the camper body. I wouldn’t put 2500 pounds with one of these campers unless I ask the manufacturer.

Agree with above about a better hitch. And even then you should weigh the loaded trailer to get the actual tongue weight.

I reinforced the factory 2" hitch with another 2"x2"x1/4" tube running between the W12 frame beams. The factory hitch is welded about 8-10" in front of the ends of the frame beams so I added the tube to reduce the cantilever and provide additional support. The tongue weight of my jetski trailer is approximately 300-350# and is applied about 6" behind the rear face of the trailer. The factory hitch states 300# max rack weight which applies the load 18-24" behind (higher bending moment on the receiver).

I would look at disc brakes if you plan on double towing.
