Hong Kong

It is just like we never left. All the sights, sounds and smells stirred the reservoir of memories. In the first 24 hours we traveled on the tram (street car), rode the MTR (subway), and taxied to shopping. I still knew how to move around the city.

On the first day, we ran into people we knew while dropping off laundry. Then Dianna needed to see the doctor we had used while here. Other old friends showed up while we were in the doctor's office. Seven million people and we meet people we know right off.

Each night a different family takes us out to dine at some restaurant with excellent Chinese food, places you have to have memberships to get in. We are a bit overwhelmed. Tonight we dine at the Hong Kong club.

I have a grand niece that is teaching English in Beijing. Well, she had to leave the country to re-enter under a work visa. We found her across town in a Marriott Hotel. She was soooo happy to see someone from home and that spoke English. Our hostess took her shopping. We were grateful for that because we are still jet-lagging. She has never been to Hong Kong, so we get to do a bit of tour guiding as we revisit some of the special places in and around the city.

Our view from our host's suite is awe inspiring. We can look across the harbor to Kowloon and on the side, we can see the green jungle climbing up the mountain side. What a contrast between the towering buildings and the towering trees. It is a singular joy to revisit this grand city and to see faces we love again.

Stiles,
So glad to see your note/report. Glad you got a flight out of TX. Knew you were concerned re. weather effects. Was hoping you got a flight, so obviously things worked for you! Continue to enjoy your visits. Know you are and will. Best wishes,

Stiles, Glad to see you are having a great time. One question; How did you get the Big Sky over there and get 50 amp service

Well Bob, The 50 amps was no problem. Everything in Hong Kong is 240V. You know how we keep modifying our rigs............Here is a sight to see:

This is a shot across the harbor from Victoria peak. The tallest building is the International Finance Centre. Kowloon, across the harbor, is the mainland side of Hong Kong. The city may compare as the NYC of the east.

Stiles & Dianna, So glad you are having a good time and have figured out the electrical service. A note to Bob, if you liberally duct tape the basement doors and turn both AC's to high, the rig will float. The AC's provide positive air pressure in the cabin and will freeze any leakage which inturn adds to the floatability. However, that big King Ranch is another story. They don't float and can not be made to. Stiles, enjoy your time and thanks for keeping us homebodies entertained. Bob and Karen
