Vinyl floor

After lots of putting it off, we finally got on the ball. DW and I ripped out the LR/DR carpet and linoleum and installed new Armstrong vinyl planks.

Looks great!!!! We have been talking about getting rid of the carpet, hate it........but we had a concern about what do with the slides..so my question is what did you do???????

Is it the snap together vinyl planks? Product name??? Sounds like a nice project for next winter.......

Once again....love it.

Looks great!
How did you manage the edge of the flooring underneath the edge of the slides?

It is the Armstrong Exquisite floating vinyl. Just peel the tape and overlap the planks. I used a carpet knife and straight edge to make the cuts. Merely cut the finished side, break the plank over, and finish the cut. If you stick it down and need to adjust, just peel it up and re-do it. This was one reason for the vinyl, was ease of installation.

We left the carpet in the slide out. I've seen a couple with laminate, and I don't like the transition from the slide to the main floor. We will have new, hopefully a better grade carpet installed in the slide. We ran the vinyl up under the carpet on the edge of the slide and stapled that edge. Our main slide lifts probably 3/4" over the floor when retracted.

I learned those old world craftsman are not stingy when it comes to staples; they'll fire two or three in one spot. Oh, and I learned I'm not near as young as I thought I was. DW and I could hardy get out of bed the second morning!

Seriously, it is really easy. Just measure twice, and cut once. Lots of little nooks and crannies to account for. I had to draw out a couple of the multiple cut pieces. I did make a bad cut or two! We even worked around all the furniture (chest freezer & recliner) by just moving it around.
