Dave and Betsy,

You are familiar with datastorm.com aren't you? If so go there for a discussion re this issue. If I remember correctly there is a complete category for it.

LOL, been there done that, been doing Datastorm for 18 months now. Was just hoping for some fresh ideas. Their take on the subject has gotten tedious to say the least. This question was posted when netzero voice went under and there were some options out there but then they wandered off subject with long and boring dissertations on lag time and frequency shift blah blah blah, So I thought I would try somewhere else and hope for some untainted info without all the tronics and physics lessons... Well how about something different?

I'd be very curious to see how this stacks up...it's much less money.

Ozzie, Skype does work sometimes, but it has always been more or less the last resort for Satellite internet users. If that is the only viable route then we may go for it but for now we will just keep our ears open for additional providers. Thanks for the suggestion though... Dave and Betsy

I use the computer version of SKYPE quite extensively. Though I realize that may not be what you are talking about, I will share my experience.

Here at home I have broadband internet and I talk almost every day with a friend in Adelaide, Australia as well as friends in California and closer by. We can easily have conference calls with 4 (maybe more) of us talking together at the same time. The voice quality is better than most telephone connections. When we were in Prague, Czech Republic and Berlin, Germany; I used Skype to make local calls (using Skype OUT I was able to call telephone numbers anywhere in the world).

When we were in Tyler State Park (here in Texas) I was able to use Skype, but there was a noticable delay which I found difficult to adjust to. I feel sure that is because of the latency in sattelite communication.

Remember, this is all about SKYPE on COMPUTER, and may not apply to any other applications.
