Internet-Cellphone hookup

I recently tried a little "black box" interace with my bag-phone in the camper to go online with the computer. The best connection I was able to get was 9,600 kbps (barely good enough to be functional for email). Is anyone doing cell phone internet usage with any luck? If so, what phone, what service provider, what adaptor, etc.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
