Newer Montana Front Cap Maintenance
On my 2005 I was able to get to the top of the front cap for waxing. How in the world on the 2015 and I am sure others how do you get to the top of the cap as it bends back away from you as you stand on a ladder? Any tricks that would help?
Thanks

I needed to clean bugs off the nose cap. I lowered the front jacks a bit, backed my truck up and then put a step ladder into the bed of my truck and I was able to reach.

Don't know how different the 2015 is from the 2014, probably not. I use a 10' ladder and can't reach the last few inches on top. The only way I can get to it for waxing is to get up on the roof, which requires me to spend about 10 minutes laying on my belly.

I just use a long step ladder and I suppose 36" arm reach helps.

I use an extendable brush and put a used or new dryer sheet on it with rubber bands or clip it over the top with small plastic clips. I spray the whole front cap or rear cap which ever I'm working on and dip the brush with the dryer sheet on it into a bucket of Blue Dawn dish soap and water I scrub it down and then rinse it off. I then use a microfiber cloth or towel to dry it off and then apply the paste wax OR use a "wash and wax" solution to then wax the unit. I try and do this in the shade because I don't want the wash and wax solution to dry to fast. If I use the paste wax I do it either like others have mentioned-- either off the tailgate of the TV or off a step ladder turned sideways. I have an extendible ladder and can vary the height from five to eleven foot which I use to reach the top of the Monte. To get to the very top I go up on the roof and lay on my stomach and wax the upper foot or so.

I back up to the rig and put a 8' step ladder against the front cap. I don't open up the ladder. I also drape a towel over the end of the ladder so it doesn't do any damage to the decals or the cap. I have a sprayed in bed liner and there's little chance of it sliding.

My 10" A-frame step ladder works for me. I can reach all of the external gel coated surfaces without going beyond an unsafe position.

I still get up on top of trailer and do the last 2 feet. Someday I won't be able to do that and I can't afford to have someone else do it.Getting the bugs off the front is labor intensive even using the dryer sheets. Wish there was some magic spray to make bug removal easier. I'm bushed after washing roof and sides of trailer and I still need to wash awning and SOME waxing. I'm getting tired just thinking about it.
