Task complete, movin' on

At the end of September, I will have completed my assignment as interim pastor of Oak Bay Baptist Church in Port Hadlock, WA. It was an outstanding year with some gracious and loving people. So we will be moving on to visit our children in North Carolina. I am choosing to traverse I-90 east to near La Cross, WI and then I-39 south until it intersects with I-74. Then moving east on I-74 to I-70 connecting with I-77 in Ohio and south to I-40.

I know some of you are familiar with, at least, part of this route. Are there any major issues of which I need to be aware? In general, what is the weather like in the month of October on this Northern route? Our reason for choosing it is to complete our tour of America by visiting Minnesota and Wisconsin. We believe it will be beautiful in the fall. Bad weather thwarted our last attempt at visiting there.

You could get some snow coming across the mountains in Montana and Idaho--just make sure you watch the weather. Otherwise I would think you shoud be OK

Stiles, you should be good to go at that time. Colors should be at or near that area at that time of year, too. Enjoy your journey.

Stiles,
It seems like it was yesterday we were enjoying your company at the Spring Rally. It certainly doesn't seem possible that over a year has passed. We are so glad you had such a rewarding experience and wish you the best as you head east.

Your route should be an excellent one. Enjoy your journey and we hope to see you again soon.

Stiles, we had snow on the mountaintops this morning in the Wisdom (Montana) area; Wisdom is south and a bit west of Anaconda, which is on I-90. We're about 30 miles away from Wisdom, and at my house two weeks ago we had a dusting of snow on our mountains. It's that time of year--snow when you least expect it, even though fall isn't here yet. However, I don't think you'll have to worry about "meaningful" snow on I-90 yet.

I can't believe a year has gone by so quickly. I remember you accepted that assignment shortly after the 2009 7 Feathers rally.

Have a safe trip.

My son lives in Youngsville, a little east of Durham and north of Wake Forest. It is unfortunate that there are no RV parks nearby. We found a less-than-stellar park two years ago in Durham.

Shucks Stiles!
We were at Fort Lewis just a few months ago. I just looked up where you are and it is only 84 miles from Fort Lewis. Oh well! Next time.
