Leaf blower use?
Has anyone used a battery powered leaf blower to clear the tops of your slides of the debris that seems to collect there? I usually use a household broom but find it becoming too much of a chore for this old man to continue doing- It's hard enough to go up the ladder to do this chore- What do y'all do before putting the slides in? Obviously, we do not have or desire slide awnings- All responses appreciated and THANX in advance- Don

Like you, I climb the ladder with a broom and sweep them off. Have considered a blower, but just one more thing to carry. But also like you, the years are making it harder to do. May have to start giving a blower more consideration.

I do use a battery powered leaf blower. The one I have(Black and Decker) would barely reach from the ground and then the angle of the air was straight up so I made an angled nozzle extension to deflect the air onto the slide outs. It still barely reached the tall slide so I use a step stool also. It does beat climbing on top the coach though.

Since all my tools are Makita I use one of these for all my leaf blowing type issues: http://www.amazon.com/Makita-BUB182Z...ta+leaf+blower

I've used the broom method since I got our first Montana but this year I've bought a Black and Decked 18 volt battery powered blower and have put a strap on it to sling over my shoulder when I head up on the roof to clear off the slide tops before bringing them in. I'll be using the blower to clear dirt, leaves or whatever is around the front door and/or ground mat too!

We also have always had slide toppers, but still carry a blower for our rugs, etc.

Have a plug-in blower that is pretty powerful. Use it to blow off slides when needed or around the rig.

I use the Ryobi rechargeable to clean top of slides, clean out the pickup, fireplace, clean off shoes and pant legs, dry dogs, dry off car after washing, cobwebs on ceiling, clean up garage, and etc...and oh yea, blow leaves too.
One note, in blowing off slides, when wet use caution when blowing towards the slide gaskets, it's real easy to push dirty water into the inside which splatters on the ceiling. If you do this like I did it brushed off easily when dry.

I used one all the time on the old Challenger. Now that the new Mountaineer has the toppers on her, don't know how much I will have to do that. Guess I'll learn.
