It is sad.
There are many homeless folks that we come across in our travels. In Loveland, there were 2 different ones living in tents, a lady and her daughter in a large tent, homeless for 8 month's I was told, the 16-to 18 yr old daughter quite unhappy with mom. I don't know the circumstances, but sad. The other family was a young woman and her Hubby/boyfriend, not shure. She was about 4 month's pregnant, discharged from the Marines. They were in a small tent, came up to the community center to sit and spend time.
Here in the trailer park we are in, a 13-15 yr old girl and her mom are in a small tent, they spend time sitting in the small truck under a tree, the restrooms are just a few hundred feet away.
Just really sad, you want to do something for them, help in some way.
With things the way they are in the economy, I imagine there are many, many like that.

Yes, it is overwhelming. The greater problem is that it is projected to get worse. When my parents faced depressive times, they could plant gardens, raise chickens, and live off the land. They hunted and fished. They had a well, cooked on a wood stove, used kerosene lamps, and used an outhouse. No utilities to pay. In our urbanized society, we don't know how to survive. How can we not feel greatly concerned for the people of our country.

When we were in El Cajon, people were walking from the moble homes to far behind and couldn't keep up the payments the Trailer Parks absorted them and resold them to cover the space rents, some when for as low as 4500. Most people didn't even take their furniture. Just thier personal belongings. It has hubbled us and we know how good we have it to be able to pay our bills and still have some left over each month to see the sights.

Yeah, but they are willing to work hard jobs for little wages. Most others prefer to take welfare and food stamps. Saw on the news just yesterday where 36% of Alabama citizens are on food stamps, highest in the country although 49 of 50 states were up. Sad in one sense, annoying in another.

IMHO, there are two types of homeless...those down on their luck, might have lost a job and/or their home, but are busting their butts to get back in the work force and again be contributing members of society. The others are the ones that don't want a job ("can't find a job"), are on 'disability', living off the gubmint (us taxpayers) in the form of unemployment, Medicaid, and other handouts.
