OK! I have been discovered!! I write these messages for my husband ART, and I am Blondeegal! Bet this keeps everyone wondering!
All kidding aside, we both have been really enjoying all of the comments provided by everyone, and can not tell you have helpful this forum has been.
We are starting to realize we are not ready to become Montana owners YET! We just bought our pick up last year, and do not want to get rid of it yet, so we are thinking we need to find a new RV more within our parameters of the truck we have. Next time around we will buy the truck with the Montana in mind.
Thank you to all-we appreciate the helpful info.

Don't stop looking at Montys, just reduce the size or look at a Montana High Country which is supposed to be lighter. Larry

We have now just about come to the conclusion we need to drop down to the Cougar 327RES this time around. My husband can't seem to get too excited about the high country-guess it's all or none! Next time around we will buy the truck that can tow anything and get the exact Montana we want with no worries! We have a Cougar TT now and it is nice, just found we need something bigger. Thank you to all for the input, it has really helped. Hard to believe there is a group of people out there so willing to help with some honest information. We will be back when we are officially Montana owners! (Hope you don't mind if we check back in on the forum once in a while cuz there is some really interesting and valuable information going on here!)

Feel free to stay on and contribute. There are a number of folks on here who own some other brand (SOB) if you see it mentioned and they and you are most welcome.

No we don't mind if you check in, in fact please do. If you skin a camper you find there isn't much difference in them. So MOC can still be useful to you, any you can still help us.

When we got our 3500rl I towed it with a 2500hd. The tag on the door said it would carry 2450 lbs. After we installed a washer dryer combo and loaded the front closet and the draws with clothes and stored stuff under the bed and filled up the basement compartment with everything else we were around 2900 lbs pin weight not counting the tools and generator stored in the tool box in the back of the truck. And not counting the weight of my wife. Based on that we traded to a 3500 hd dually and are very happy. This may be an extreme example but you can see how easily things can become dangerous very fast. In my case the 2500hd was grossly overloaded. You must constantly be aware of what's behind you for safety's sake. Good luck and safe travels.
PS. You may want to look at the new 1/2 ton towable fifth wheels that are now available. I don' t know if keystone makes any but I saw one by jayco and it looked very promising, also very reasonably priced.

Good suggestion, but you still have to be very careful. There was a guy on another forum towing a Teton with a 3/4 ton truck, because the salesman said it was "ok."
