HAIL!!!!!!!!!!!

We are sitting in the 5er in the middle of the biggest, baddest hail storm I have ever been in. The hail is 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch in size and has totally covered the ground in minutes. I've never seen a hail storm like this in my life. Hope it doesn't hurt the slide toppers on the vents.

This morning it was bright and sunny. Oh Well.

I'll answer for Don, we are in Hill City SD at the Rafter J Bar and have gotten our butts kicked two days in a row. Yesterday it was in the morning with wind and today around 2pm it turned the ground white. No damage to the truck and haven't checked the Monty's top.
BUT the temps are great, right Don!

Yes we are in Hill City South Dakota and right now it is 70 outside the hail has all melted except in the shade.

We have had no damage but a lot of people have hade skylight and vent damage. The guy along side me will have to get a new awning. He left this am and left the awning out. He hasn't come back yet but will be in for a unhappy surprise.

We are leaving in the am for Billiings, mt then Yellowstone. Hope we have better weather.

Been there, done that. We spent summer working at Rafter J Ranch and put bubble wrap over our vents and built a cage for skylight over shower and also made a cover for top of truck. We were warned that when it hails it can be BAD. But the area is great. Have you eaten at The Alpine Inn in Hill city yet? Enjoy.

I'm glad we left when we did. We are at Cunningham Lake State Park in Omaha NE now and it is just beautiful.

Guess it did that hail thingy while we were in the Badlands, so, we know that Big Butt is fine, CountryGuy will inspect ours tomorrow. SIGHHHHH. Sorta glad I missed the first hand experience tho. We saw what I thought looked like a storm when we were headed back west on 44. Guess it more than LOOKED like a storm eh??

This happened to us last year here in Mt. Rushmore area.

Replaced the vent covers and added those covers over them.

Also, be sure and check the sewer hose! Bob drained our grey tank and there was a shower from the hose!!! He took old one to the garbage bin and it was loaded with old sewer hoses & vent covers!!!

But, we love this area!!!!

We stayed 3 wks in hermosa crazy weather. wind every day could not put out the awning and leave rain thunder and lighting likely 3 or more days a wk hail 2 or 3 times while we were there. but a beautiful place to see loved it there. just needed a cg with trees and things to block the wind. no trees at heartland rv park.

Parts of Yellowstone are closed. A bear killed a hiker yesterday. Be careful.

Yikes! I guess the streets of K.C. aren't the only dangerous places to walk.

The roads are open. Only a small area of the back country is closed.

Wapiti Lake Trail, which is located off the South Rim Drive, south of Canyon Village and east of the park’s Grand Loop Road.

Must be part of Rafter J amenities to have hail. We were there 4 yrs ago with twin grandsons when the hail hit. Golf ball size. Cracked a vent cover, but of the five trucks around us our Dodge was the only one not damaged. Lucky us.
