On our 3800, I ejected the mattress before we left the dealer and then replaced what was there with the proper size of ply on the top and bottom of the platform. I used cabinet grade ply from lowes and then put pre-finished molding on the sides and bottom edge of the ply to cover raw edge and protect legs, etc from scrapes if rubbed wrong. I could have put the pump on the slide floor next to the forward side, but chose to set it under the head of the bed with holes in top ply for the hoses and a hole out the side of the 1/8" platform for the 120vac plug since a wall outlet is in the forward side of the slide. The pump is so reliable you really don't need to access it and if you do want to...slide the mattress down, remove a couple of screws, and there it is. On our model, I could have tapped into electric feeds under the platform since power for the washer and dryer runs are there or tapped into the feed used to supply the nightstand on the wifes side.
