Heart scan --- update

My shoulder surgery has been delayed or canceled based on the outcome of a heart scan I am to undergo on Wednesday next. My primary physician found some abnormality on my EKG, so refused to certify me for surgery on Monday (1/28). I talked the cardiologist into a PET scan rather than a stress test. I hate running on a treadmill until I throw up. If things go well with the PET scan, then surgery will be scheduled for Monday week.

I wrote a poem about aging some 15 years ago. It seems more relevant than ever today. I would like to share:

Aging

Another drop slips from life’s cup
Softly falling away unnoticed
Silent, tiny, absorbed
Excised without pain
Time is anesthetic

Bright faces through clouded eyes
Muffled ears, sharing missed
A phrase once eloquently quoted
Memory, jigsaw - pieces missing
Time's a cruel surgeon

High school grad with future aglow
Young father with nestled newborn
Yesterday's newborn suckles her babe
"Grampa, Grammy, see my doll!"
Time's a streaking meteor

Clay outer man is breaking, broken
Grieving, sorrow for vigor lost
Spring-fed inner man drinks renewal
Surging hope springs forth
Time, in Christ, brings life.

Stiles, I hope and pray that things will go well. Some tell me that my ordeal this last year was a "Mid-Life Reset" and I am good to go again. I hope they were correct. Keep the faith, He will take care of you.....

Stiles,
Nice poem. Sums up aging very well.

Sorry to hear of your heart situation. We, too, have been dealing with a heart problem. Caused us to miss Q this year. We do have some elective surgeries on down the road and now I'm worried, like you, that the heart situation will booger things up. Best of luck to you and I hope the additional test will let you get your surgery done. Good luck, Dennis.

Stiles, I hope all goes well with the heart and the shoulder. Glad you got the PET scan set up, you definitely don't want an adenosine stress test, been there and it sucks.

Most excellent poem as well! You are a man of many talents.

Stiles good poem and reminds me of Longfellow's Psalm of Life. Best wishes and prayers for good test results.

You are in my thoughts and prayers Stiles... Just this time last year, at the age of 32, I had a pacemaker implanted due to complications in the "electrical system" of my heart. Today's Doctors and modern medicine can do some amazing things. I am sure you are in great hands!

Father, we pray that your healing will flood over Stiles and drive out all his ills. May your stripes be sufficient for him. Guide the Drs thoughts and hands to a place of Your perfect healing. We look for good reports of great healing as it is in the name Jesus we pray. Amen

Enjoyed the poem and praying that your test will come out OK and that you can proceed with the surgery.

First, thank all of you for your prayers. The PET scan revealed no heart issues to be concerned about. Now, surgery on the shoulder is scheduled for Monday.
