DF fluid

I buy my fluid at the Ford Dealer. Does anyone use a cheaper brand and does it work?

I buy Blue DEF at Wal-Mart, usually the cheapest prices around.

When we first bought our rig, the only place i could get DEF was at a truck stop near by, at $10 per gallon. I'm happy with Blue DEF at my local auto parts store at $12.50 per 2 1/2 gallon container.

I have successfully used the cheapest Walmart sells in the blue 2 1/2 gallon jug for 3 1/2 years now with no problems.

I put over 40,000 miles full timing on our 2012 F350 using all Walmart DEF. Never an issue. I had read stories of scrum bags returning jugs of DEF with water in them so I always checked the seal on it when buying. We are taking delivery of another diesel Friday and I will go back to buying my DEF at Walmart.

I top my DEF off every few thousand miles at truck stops at the pump where I get my diesel. At the pump it was $2.68 per gallon last weekend.

$2.79 AT PILOT/Flying J at the pump or NAPA ~ $12.50 for 2 1/2 gallon of Blue DEF. Have not been in Walmart in 4 decades, not even the portrait studio...

I get mine at Flying J/Pilot at the truck pumps. $2.79 a gallon. Used to get it at Walmart or Auto Zone $10 for 2.5 gallons. That was when I first got my truck. Cheaper at truck stop pumps.

Walmart has their own brand of DEF that is cheaper than blue DEF. I either use that or at the pump at Pilot.

Don't let a GM dealer tell you your "DEF quality is poor message" is because you didn't purchase from them. There are GM web pages that specify owners can purchase at truck stops and other stores besides GM dealers. Google it. I had to show it to a service department. And, there is an inexpensive test device for DEF similar to a battery tester that a dealer needs. Now, this particular dealership has one but I don't darken their doors. I am not an expert but have a lot of experience with dealerships across the country because of emission problems! Dieselplace.com is a lot of help before you talk to the service departments.
