Carpet on the stairs

We have a 2016 3440RL. I hate the carpet on the stairs going to the bedroom.
Has anyone changed that to something else. Would love to take the carpet off of the stairs.

I'd imagine you could put linoleum in its place with some kind of a nose for the tread, but you may also have to do something about the risers because if also covered with carpet ... they will just be bare plywood or similar.

The 2018 3791RD that we bought 2 weeks ago doesn't have carpet on the stairs (either set of them) thank goodness.

We have a 2016 3160RL and it does not have carpet on the stairs either. On the landing that goes in to the bath, there is vinyl just like the kitchen and bath. The stairs themselves are made of a product that looks much like composite deck, like Trek. The stair risers are stained wood with a grill for the air intake.

Ours are like adams7806 but we don't have a 379. We have a 3791RD 2018.

My wife wants me to take the carpet off the stairs and the landing. The carpet is so cheap and the shag gets worn down so quickly. Why they don't use a tight weave or burbur is beyond me.
Probably a winter project. Might try stick on vinyl tiles with nosing for the stairs.
Hate carpet in the trailer. A magnet for dog hair and sand gets buried in the carpet and hard to get out.

You can purchase the stair material from Keystone through a dealer. I did that with my 2015 Mountaineer. The DW didn't like the carpeted stairs either. I designed the staircase using the existing stairs as a model. My only regret was using 1/2" plywood as a base instead of 3/4". I stained the top riser as it didn't have vent holes.

Is the rubber/vinyl for the steps you purchased cut to fit the same area were carpet was. On my 2016 3791rd they carpeted in the middle of the steps and wood exposed on each end plus front of step edge is radiused. Do they fit the spot exactly? How much were they a piece? Thanks Chuck

Not a carpet issue on our new 2018 3831 FL
We have the hard surface stair treads BUT they are BLACK,
of course they are also in a shadow line.
Wife and I have both about missed the middle step (think bifocals)
Probably the one thing we don't like, might paint safety yellow edge on them.
Well maybe.

We bought these rubber round nose tread covers from lowes for 4 or 5 bucks each and Nancy installed with double sided tape over the carpeted steps.

Charli, I to hate carpet in a camper. Who ever thought that was a good idea should me shot. LOL

In my 2011 3455sa, I demoed the steps entirely. I then built new stairs with 3 steps instead of 2. The steps are 3/4 ply stained to match. All 3 steps are hinged and open up for storage under them.

I also discovered that there was already linoleum under the carpet on the landing at the bathroom so I removed the carpet to expose it and moved the carpet edge back to the bedroom door. Now we can get from outside to the bathroom without walking on any carpet.

I went even farther and found linoleum under the carpet between the dinning table and kitchen island. I removed that carpet back to were the hard floor stopped which was at the back side of the island.

Now unless you walk to the living area or bedroom you do not step on any carpet. Much easier to clean up now, just sweep the dirt out the door.

andylparish,i take it your steps are straight from side to side and the front of steps to make the treds from Lowe's work,Do ya think they are pliable enough or bendable enough to work on the radius steps there using now for steps.

Chuck, I had a 2015 Mountaineer 310RET. The steps fit perfectly side to side. Price would be irrelavent as I purchased direct from Keystone at the national rally a couple of years ago. I would contact Keystone direct, give them your year and model number and request the appropriate part number. Best Regards.
