Bug deflector...yes, no, or indifferent?

You've seen 'em, I've seen 'em. Are bug deflectors useful or a do without?!! Thanks again, D

Meaning the clear or darkened deflector that's on the front of your truck.......

I have never seen any proof that they improve fuel mileage but they are useful as bug deflectors.

Heard it helps keep the front end down as you approach the sound barrier!!!!!!

If you mean the ones that go on top of the truck IMO they make no difference.. If you mean the ones that protect the front of the truck IMO they do help keep bugs off the truck and help with the windshield.

My truck came with a bug deflector, it does a good job of deflection bugs up and over the windshield and deposits them on the front cap of the Monty where it is ten times more difficult to clean.

I thought those big deflectors on top of the truck was for making the rig more aerodynamic by deflecting the wind up and over the front of the trailer? Doesn't seem like it would really do much though. Maybe as a bug deflector?
I'm seriously considering having the front cap of the trailer covered with the Clear Bra material for protection. Any thoughts?
I've used it for years on the front of my cars...really helps protect from all those little chips and blemishes from years of highway driving.

That's what the designers said would help with the aerodynamics of the vehicles traveling down the road. However, they show no noticeable improvement in fuel mileage. I had a perfectly good one that I threw in the dump when we started full timing in 2000. I was gullible enough to buy it new and used it twice. They just aren't worth the money.

Seems like I read once of a test where they showed it didn't help mileage at all. The newer front caps are pretty aerodynamic anyway IMO.
My truck is so NON aerodynamic anyway, it's like "what's the point"?

Talked to someone on North Padre Island that had a clamp down one on the top of his truck. He said no difference in mileage, but that it did help keep the bugs off his front cap.
