Texas Fort Trails

Texas has designated various routes as Trails, one of these that has caught my attention is the Texas Forts Trials. At Fort McKavett, this weekend there was a nice 2 day demo, bbq, and re-enactment activities. This fort has a campground with a few full hookups. So, I am into the planning stages for us to visit the forts -- probably next spring. Has anyone else done this? I expect to have to stay in a few commercial RV Parks if nearby state parks are not available.

We have been there for the reenactment and really enjoyed the visit. We were staying in Junction, TX at Junction North Llano River RV, which was okay for a few days.

Ram - How do you like Point Blank? We are looking at that area for a home base.

Having lived in Texas for 70+ years and watched a lot of strange weather, the area that has the Texas Forts Trail gets hit by spring thunderstorms and wild weather regularly. I will plan our trip for the fall--nice cool crisp days!

For US - we love it - depends on what you are looking for - just stay away from Polk County - the property tax is … over there
