Donut Hole around the corner a must! You will love it there. Nice time of year to go. Beautiful there. There is a scenic route off the main hwy takes you to the beach shops and motels.

Assuming you are beach goers, take your bikes and if you do not have a pull behind cart, the office rents them (I think the first day was $10 and the rest of the week was $6 a day). If you can find one cheaper than the combined rental cost, I would recommend it. It is more convenient to ride your bikes to the lake and the beach than it is to take the tram, but the choice is yours. Second the Donut Hole, it is a must and you will not be disappointed in the breakfast offerings. There is a Wal-Mart a couple of miles from the park entrance. We always take a trip out to the local seafood shops as well for fresh fish and shrimp. You cannot go wrong at this campground and there is all kinds of things to do in the immediate area. We are looking at two weeks there next summer, so our usual trip to the Mid-Atlantic rally may be put on hiatus for a week, we will see.

Bingos right about biking to the beach with the cart. Look at yard sales, children shops, eBay for a good used child's bike trailer . That's what we have and is exactly what the carts are like. It will hold yur cooler, lawn chair, small umbrella. I think walmart carries new ones for $50 FYI but they are around if you look. They come apart lay flat to store.

If you like fine dining, The Bay restaurant at the immediate south end of the highway 331 bridge is wonderful, and they have indoor, patio and beachside tables. For a really great seafood lunch, try Stinkys Fishcamp on 30A in Santa Rosa. Their slogan is "with a name like Stinkys it better be good" and it is!

While you're there, check out Grayton beach, both the community and the State Park.

The Gulfarium is expensive, but a kitschy throwback to the 1970's (although I don't think they're trying to be!)

We also like to rent a pontoon in Destin and go to Crab Island for an afternoon. Crab Island isn't an island at all, but a sandbar that lots of people boat to, drop anchor and swim. There are locals in dingys zipping around to sell ice cream or tee shirts or other touristy things. Make sure you pack drinks & snacks if you go.

Have fun!

We enjoy Topsail Hill, we go with family and friends, and by our selves and always have a great trip. If you enjoy cycling then a good day trip is down to SeaSide and all the other small town places along a good bike path and near the ocean. We sometimes trike down to the public beach about 3 or so miles on County Road 30A when the wind blows bitting flies from the Preserve lakes toward the beach, but that all depends which the wind is blowing. Have fun.

Man Steve!! How lucky of you to get to go there! I wanna' go so bad I can taste it. But, just not in the cards just yet since you can't stay more than 2 weeks. And, I never seem to know until about a week or so ahead of time that we are going down to Miramar Beach.
