News ( Update1-21-12)
Not only has Camping World merged with Good Sam, they have merged with Hawley's Camping Center. Will be called "Hawley's Camping World". Lots of things changing in the camping business. Never know what you will learn from day to day.
Hawley's Camping World is having a show in Garner NC this weekend and has sold approx. 30 units in 3 days. We will be having a show in Fayetteville NC in March, hope the positive trend continues.
We had a new High Country on display, the first I've seen. Priced about 20k Less than Montana. IMHO, about the same quality as Cougar or Sydney.

I'd be willing to bet we'll see a number of mergers and acquisitions over the next couple of years, some good and some not so good. With the economy looking like it's going to take a while to recover and people's spending becoming more conservative, some folks will be exiting the business in either a positive way (selling out) or a negative way ( bankruptcy).

We were at Camping World Today -- a lot of the items for sale have been relabeled as "Good Sam" merchandise

Guess that is just a sign of the times.
We were lucky the other day, went through every aisle at Camping World and left without buying a single item!

camping world took over Meyer rv in Hamburg ny and two years later they closed it. Not thrilled for what they did to our area, since that was the only Montana dealer within 100 miles

They took over and closed Suncoast RV all locations. I bought mine at the Winter Garden, Fl. location. Happened a few weeks after warranty was up. There were some good techs there, I hope they find other employment.

Hawley's used to be on my short list for a place to buy my next one. Unfortunately, no more. Camping World would be about the last place I would buy anything. I compared prices one time with those in the generic catalog many dealers have. Most prices in the catalog were priced under the Presidents Club, the 1000 watt Honda Generator over $100 under. Pay money for the privilege of paying more money-I think not. I have also heard a bunch of bad stories about service. a friend took her motor home into get a windshield remounted to stop a leak. After three unsuccessful tries she took it somewhere else and it was fixed right the first time. I bought a small propane tank that had a sticker fight on it that said it should be purged before filling. They filled it but when I got it home it wouldn't fire the grill. I suspected it was not purged because the kid was only gone about 5 minutes. After it was drained and purged it worked fine. I surely don't blame Hawley's for making a business decision but I'm not going to play anymore. YMMD

I received my new Camping World/Good Sam card last week. In the letter, they stated that they took the subscription time that was the furthest out between my President's Club Card and my Good Sam Card and made that my expiration date for my new card. Seems to me that they should have taken the time left on my President's Card and the time left on my Good Sam card and ADDED the time together and made that the expiration date for my new card. I paid for both subscriptions, RIGHT?
