Fried Green Tomatoes
1 C. all-purpose flour
4-6 med. green tomatoes, sliced 1/4 to 1/2"
thick
1 egg, beaten
1/4 C. milk
1 C. seasoned dry bread crumbs
cooking oil
Put flour in a shallow dish; Dip both sides of each tomato slice into the flour. Combine egg and milk. Dip each tomato slice in the egg wash then dip in bread crumbs making sure that they are covered real good. Lay slices on a plate let dry for at least 30 min. it will make the breading stay on. In a pot or deep frier put about 3 or 4 inchs of cooking oil, deep fry slices till golden brown. (I like to spice my up a bit so I add some red pepper to the bread curmbs,I also salt them right after they come out of the oil.) I always have to triple this when I make fried green tomatoes cause everyone here in the park loves them, I cook them out side so everyone gets some.
