She Finally Arrived!
Hello all! New member here... been "lurking" for about a month now (since we ordered our Monty last month) to read/learn about this new adventure of rv'ing!
My name is Maureen and my wonderful other half, Mike, are completely new to the rv world. We ordered the 3100RL Aug 14 and found out today that it arrived at the dealer. We live in the Modesto, CA area and looking forward to our "shake down trip" (I think I believe I read that here somewhere). Not sure where the husband has planned our first trip, but I have been enlightening him about a few things I've read here about the PDI, a few essentials like hoses, Surge protectors, etc... Lucky for us that the dealer is only 3 miles from our home.
If there is something that you think we should really be mindful of (we may overlook because we are so excited that "she" has arrived, please share the knowledge.
Well, just thought I'd share our happy news and I hope to be able to post some photos soon.
~Maureen W.

Keep a list of the things you may want to stock in the trailer during your shake down trip. Pick a location close to stores so you won't have to go far to get anything you really need now. Many of us have stocked our rigs with everything we need except some clothes and food so we're not hauling the coffee pot, etc. back and forth all the time. Have fun, enjoy the trip and welcome to the club.

If you can, stock her with stuff you can leave in her. That way, when you are ready to travel, all you will need wil be fresh groceries and water

First things first. Allow plenty of time for your PDI and use a checklist. You'll find several under a tab on the front page of the forum but here's one: http://changingears.com/rv-checklist...?sec-checklist If this seems like going too far, remember, not only could the builders have overlooked something, but your home was probably towed a long distance since it was made by someone who only cared about how fast he could get it to the dealer. Take your time and not only make them fully explain the operation of all the systems but look at everything else along the way. At our PDI we found a cracked landing gear leg. Not something either we or the dealer expected to find. I hope you love you're new rig and make many wonderful memories with it and remember those of us on the forum are always here to help.

Congrats on the new fiver! Since you are new to the RV world, if you have friends who are experienced rv'ers, might be worthwhile to invite them to come with you and help take delivery.

Congrats on your new rig. You are going to love the floor plan of the 3100RL. We have the same model and live in it full time and just love it! Welcome to the MOC and many happy adventures.

Hi all. Thanks for the tips. I will print out PDI and take with me and making a list of needs on our 1st trip is a great idea. We drove by the dealership after work today but they were closed. Looking at our 5er from afar, it looks like the graphics are completely different than what was in the brochure ( it was black and brown with no blue at all). Also, not sure if it was the setting of the sun, but the Monty also looked like an off-white, almost ivory color as well. Does anyone know if this is the new color scheme for the 2014 models?

Congratulations Maureen and Mike. Definitely plan on taking enough time on the PDI. The more you catch then, the less down time later on. Do stay somewhere near an RV store so you can get stuff you will need. Do plan on enjoying your new rig!

In 2004 when Gail and I bought our first RV, a friend who was a RV enthusiast told us when we took delivery, "Congratulations. Life as you once knew it, will never be the same". Boy, was he ever right but, we have never looked back!!
Congratulations! You will make new memories that you will not forget. We have and now that we are both retired, we made some earlier this summer with a trip around Lake Michigan for 8 days and plan on making more in the near future.

Based on previous forum reports from attendees at the Hershey RV show, the new standard color has been changed from white to a cream like color. Can't verify but it sounds as if you will be able to. Congrats on the new rig also!
