Fire5er,

I had my Reese slider hanging off my pin box (5th Airborne) most of last fall because I needed the pickup. I never tried it before and hesitated, but in reality that Reese weighs much less than I thought and I don't think I'll hesitate to do it again. It's actually very convenient.

Given a different - more heavy hitch, I may not have the same answer.
