water filters

I have a 2007 3475rl Monty and want to put a whole trailer water filtration system in. One that filters city and tank connection. Any ideas?

We use a "whole house" filter on the infeed hose from the campground spigot. There are several brands, we use GE and got it at Home Depot. I'm not very mechanical and I installed it using hose clamps. I changed the filter after EVERY time out of storage and about once a month during use.

My stick house was plumbed with a whole house filter and softener at the same time by a local water purification company. I talked to the owner the other day. He has a class C motorhome and he recommended the Everpure with disposable ADC filter. The same one that CW sells. My only concern was the low gpm rating. He did state that I could use an outdoor filter, or one between cg bib and trailer and then use the everpure for drinking water only. That way I woul dhave double filtration. Would need a small spigot at the kitchen sink. This is probably what I will do..Hope this helps somewhat..

When we get our Montana I am installing a Seagull IV by General Ecology, one side tap in the kitchen and one in the bathroom sink and a inline one on the water hose

I have the CW filter, installed it under the sink on the cold water sink supply only. I use a double filter 1 gallon or so Brita gravity from Lowe's for drinking. I figure, why filter the whole trailer with a filter if I only consume the water from the sink. The shower and toilet are not deserving of filtered water.

we have always just put one on the outside, but that wouldn't help your tank water. You could adapt almost anything that you wanted to use. It just depends how fancy and how much you want to spend.

We run our fresh water tank fill through the water filter, then hook the hose up to the city water input. Our tank always contains fully filtered water.

Ozz,
We run our whole rig on filtered water. We don't wear the filter out by using filtered water in the shower and toilet. At first I thought that it was dumb to do that but then I thought "what the heck, the toilet doesn't know the difference." Is there a particular reason that you don't use filtered water in the toilet? Perhaps there's a good reason not to, I don't know.

I just figure the toilet doesn't need to be filtered. I don't drink out of the toilet. (Sober, that is.....)
The taste is what we are after.

Ozz, What about particulate matter that may be in the CG lines? I saw somewhere in an earlier post that this matter could eventually ruin seals and build up over time. Think there's any truth to that?

You can put an inline filter on the inlet hose just to keep the dirt out of the lines and useit when you fill the tank. drinking, cooking and teeth brushing water can be done with a high grade filter in the unit

Here's our system..

Change the filter elements about every 3 to 6 months dependent on the last CGs we were in.
All necessary parts can be bought at Lowes or Home Depot.

Phil, could be, but I look at it like this, it's city water, treated water that goes to every home in the city, as well as to the RV park. Millions of homes and businesses do not have water filters of any kind, their (residential) Ice makers, humidifiers on the furnaces and faucets work fine. I don't like the taste here, of the water I drink, so I filter it so it tastes better, that's all I'm concerned with.
To each his or her own, maybe people who filter all water will be better off, this is just my choice based on my life's experiences.

Ozz, et.al.,

Of course everyone can have a different perspective. Here is my take.

We filtered the Fulton County (Atlanta, GA) water for years and the water filter would clog with what I called impurities. I did not want to shower in what I saw in the filters. Made me feel better to filter the whole house. Because of my experience, I decided to filter all the remote and city campground water that goes into the Montana because I have a choice. Doesn't make me right, just more comfortable. On the other hand, when we were hiking the Appalachian Trail 2 years ago, sometimes we drank water straight from streams and only treated it with drops the rest of the time.

Virgil, I respect and understand your ideas.
The trail. Wow, I saw a few specials on it on TV, I wish I could muster up the courage to tackle it, I bet it is a wonderful experience. Could you write about it sometime? I wonder how many MOC members did that walk.
Thanks, Ozz

Glenn, The double system you use, are they both the same type canisters? Just two for extra safety?

Ozz: That's cool, to each his own. Just stay away from the toilet when you been tipping a few... Of course, I know that's not easy to do either

pparamore,
I use the double filter just like Glenn. The front canister (the one closest to the water source) is a cheaper filter because it is used to remove dirt and debris from the water before it enters the good filter, the one that removes the impurities.
