King Pin

I ordered a new Big Sky last week and have a question about the Mor-Ryde pin. I currently have an 08 3465 with the Trail-Aire king pin.
I really know nothing about the Mor-Ryde and am thinking I may like the Trail-Aire pin better. So if anyone has had both I would appreciate your opinions.

I have neither, but think the Trail Aire is better than the Mor-ryde and either would be better than my all metal clunker. I don't tow enough to want to invest and if I invested in something like this I would love an air-based system better than a nylon bushing based system. That's just my opinion when it comes to spending someone else's funds and money was no object.

Same with an air-based hitch on the truck as well. I only have the clunky metal-based swivel head type of hitch.

I fear over time with these roads getting worse and worse and my body get older and older, I might invest sooner than later. The list is long for the options and features on my Monty spending list.

Have not owned both, but would like to say we just traded 2010 for 2013 Monty at Lazydays in Tampa, FL and in the deal we kept the Trail Air Triglide (Triglide cost more)and they switched the pin boxes (both were the 1716 bolt pattern). The Mor-ryde appears to be a good product, but we have really enjoyed the air ride verses the OEM solid steel non-moving pin box that is now resting in our farm shop. Just from observation we see the Trail Air on heavier SOBs.

I always thought they addressed different issues, but I can be further educated as a result of this thread. Here is what I thought: the Mor-Ryde is geared towards eliminating the back and forth "chucking" of the rig that you feel when accelerating or decelerating, and the air pin-boxes are geared more to a shock-absorbing up and down impact effect. I have always thought the ultimate system would be an air cushioned hitch in conjunction with a Mor-Ryder type pin box. Therefore, I would think your choice would be geared towards what you hope to reduce or eliminate. Because of this reasoning, I have been researching the air-type hitches for a couple of years, but have been holding off because of price. Waiting for correction or confirmation here.

Congrats on your new rig. We have RV park neighbors here at Umatilla FL that just got a 2013 3402 from LazyDays in Tampa. Nice model. Good luck.

The TrailAir Tri-Glide tries to suppress both, up and down shock as well as the for and aft chuck. Useing the original TrailAir Air Bag and Shock, plus the Demco Glide Ride all in one Pin Box. It's what we have on our SOB and do like it better than the MorRyde that was on our Monty.

I knew I would get educated, now I have another addition to the gotta have, future mod list!! Looks like the Tri-Glide is in the $1200 range which is about half of what I have been seeing for the air bag hitches themselves.

If it were mine I would swap the old one for the new one, and keep the one you had, I am not a real big fan of the Mor-ryde

We have the TrailAir Tri-Glide and would not go back to the regular one. Also while we were having the TrailAir installed we saw several Mor-ryde pin boxes in the scrap pile. We asked about them and most of them were broken, the reason for replacement.
