5th Wheel Tailgate for your truck.
Don't spend hundreds of dollars on a new or used tailgate. I have made one of PVC which cost me a total of $38.00. If you would like to know more, email me with your personal email address page, to ljm463@yahoo.com. I do not use windows live. I do have pictures, and would be glad to show you them. And by the way, if you have a fifty grand truck, this might not be for you. Mine is on a 2007 Dodge 3/4 truck, and looks good. I was surprised after i painted and installed it on the truck. From a distance, you really cant tell its made of PVC.

Instead of email, you should share it with the MOC forum; there is lots of interest in louvered tailgates because several people have destroyed their tailgates, or have a desire to spend their money replacing the existing tailgate....so, an inexpensive alternative would be great!
There have been several threads about the pros/cons of these tailgates, and I have an interest for good design, complimentary decoration, and usefulness to the tow vehicle and owner.

I would like to see some pictures of your PVC tail gate, question will it be for any model TV and will it be a V type construction allowing a driver to just back up and connect the Monty.
Thanks.

I recently saw one of these home-made PVC tailgates at a campground a couple of weekends ago. I thought it was very clever and way less expensive than a store-bought one. It was a series of elbows, tees and angles in a grid pattern in the full size and shape of the typical 5er tailgate. This owner also painted it in red, white and blue PVC paint for some extra customization. I wish I had taken a picture to post.
This wasn't you, was it ljm463?

SOS Bingo.
Whenever a topic comes on about tail gates or luvered gates, it's like a personal joke for a few, and the few that dont know what the joke is all about, just watch the thred fall apart, it gets kind of boaring after a while. the last 5 post there was no input about the topic, it iis starting to fall apart just like all the other post with this topic.
I for one would like to see what this PVC tailgate looks like.
Enugh said, I hope I havent ruffeled to many feathers with my comments.
Don

Trailer Trash 2,
You must give some latitude with sort of topic. Especially this particular topic. Not too long ago there was a 44 page outpouring of mostly humor.
TT2 if you would like to see the product the OP is talking about I suggest you send an email to him. That is what he suggested. However it would be nice if he'd just post either a link or a picture.
Good luck.

I can't use a 5er tailgate like that but there are plenty of 5ers who can and do, and here's a PVC version I found on the web... It is much simpler than the one I saw at a campground recently but should give you a pretty good idea what it looks like. The one I saw had more PVC Tees and Crosses in it and extra PVC pipe to go with it and this one uses some type of screening to keep things in the bed. While the one in this link was painted black, the one I saw was red, white and blue. But I suppose you can paint it however you like.

I for one won't be adorning a 50 grand truck with a PVC tailgate. When I get too decrepit to lower the tail gate, I don't think I'll be pulling anything.

Will, ....wonder if anyone else hears your wisdom?
For those without humor, my suggestion would be to NOT subscribe to the topic!....kinda like the on/off switch on your PUBLIC tv channels.
Most likely, this is not a credible posting anyway, no reply, no working email and no link.

Apparently not everyone...we saw some folks from Ohio in the Wal Mart at San Benito a few years back. They couldn't find there way out of the store. I do hope God gives me the sense to know when to stop towing.
I'm thinking that poster is looking for pay for proprietary rights to the plans for that tailgate.

Thanks for posting that information about the PVC tail gate Art.
It is creative and will do the job for a few. but my intrest in this PVC tailgate is, just Interest on its construction and how it was secured to the truck, for what its worth it will work well to a point, appearance is so so. as another stated putting it on a 50 K truck wont fly for me either, I didnt like the way it connected to the truck,
But I guess some people can afford the 300.00 manufactured one, and others cant. very creative V gate for $38.00.
I guess you could say he is laughing all the way to the bank he saved a few bucks, and so long as he dosen't care what other think, whick is very inportant in this day and age.
