Water tank level UPDATE

Water tank level lights quit working. I would like to get them working again. Any ideas of the cause.
Filled the tank today with RO water and the gauge started to work again.

All tanks or just fresh water? Take the monitor loose from the wall ... check for 12V DC on the red wire / check the white wire for continuity to ground and go from there. The literature I've read says if both of the above are positive in results ... replace the monitor. Although a bit busy, this PDF file shows it all, you just have to wade thru it.

The only one I use is the Fresh Water Level. I sometimes put in one third tank full while traveling.

That is the one I am using as it gives me an idea on how full the fresh water tank is as I fill it with the RO water system.
I also travel with 1/3 of a tank.

Agree, we have had many units over the years, and have found the guages to be pretty much useless except for fresh water.

Hi

Mine have worked quite well since I installed the probes in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

You mean the manufacturers do not install the probes in accordance with their own instructions??? Apparently not as most of mine did not work out of the factory.

Hi

I am referring to the manufacturer of the level indicating system not Keystone.

Keystone didn’t install them in accordance with the manufacturer of the level indicating system instructions.

Mine were installed upside down. They didn’t work out of the factory either.

There are 4 probes in each tank.

The probes should be installed with the first and second ones 1/3 of the way up from the bottom and spread apart in accordance with the instructions, the third one should be 2/3 of the way up from the bottom and the forth one should be 1 inch below the top of the tank.

Mine were installed with the first and second ones in the very bottom of the tank so far down they were in the curve of the side wall and bottom of the tank. The third one was 1/3 the way up and the forth one was 2/3 the way up the side of the tank.

At best this results in the indicators showing 1/3 of a tank all the time. The ground probe being so far down that it was always wet then resulted in the rest showing levels because of the moister in the atmosphere in the tank.

The manufacturer of the probes sent me 8 probes. I had 6 of them installed in accordance with their instructions. One tank we couldn’t get a drill in place to install the new probes so the black tank still doesn’t work but my grays and the potable water tank do work well.

The only comment I have is the gray tanks require cleaning with a chemical about once a year to clean the soap scum from the probes to keep them working properly.

The white wire is the ground prob. The yellow wire is the 1/3 probe. Note that both are mounted in the very bottom of the tanks.

Also the instructions tell you to put them on the side furthest away from the drain. Notice the drain location.

, , ,

It looks like I made some mistakes in my description this should show the correct way to install the probes.
