Some of you have probably seen this...
But just in case, thought I'd share a cool website that seemed like it has some helpful tips and mods etc.
http://www.modmyrv.com/
Found it while reading about changing out the locks on a newly purchased RV to something besides the generic (common) locks that come on many trailers. Both storage compartments (i.e. the ubiquitous CH751 key/lock) and the entry door(s).

Good point about the alarm system, but I do believe that good locks are also an important part of a "deterrent" system. Multiple levels and different types of protection can provide increased security (I will be adding a security system). Addressing obvious weak links is a good place to start. I don't know how much of a legitimate concern the common key issue really is, but I thought it was something to be aware of. Seems to be some other interesting stuff on the site...

Mike,
Small aircraft are the same way. One key opens 90% of the aircraft.

I guess if I re-key the compartment locks it would just keep someone from using the common key to help themselves.
I think sometimes people might use a key or open something unlocked but wouldn't necessarily pry something open just to steal a hose or chock block.
Bottom line, I won't be storing anything of great value in there but I would like to make the interior of the trailer more secure.
