It is almost big enough for the Montana now!!

Reached the two-thirds complete mark this weekend. The end is in sight but still looks to be a couple of weeks away. Looks like it will be after the Fourth of July before we even consider camping. Hopefully we can get out before the Virginia-Mid-Atlantic rally!!
Here is the link to the slideshow for the entire construction project to date again:
Dock Construction Slideshow
And for those who just want to see the current status, one picture:

To give a better idea of scale, the walkway portion next to the boat is 54 feet from end to end. The portion of the patio area that was added is 12 feet by 16 feet. Including the right hand side of the walkway, the patio area will be 22 feet by 24 feet (almost big enough to camp on - if the rear jacks hang over!!)
Bingo

Amazing!!

This MAY sound like a stupid question, but since I don't know, I am gonna ask anyway!

Do you have to take this OUT of the water for the winter months???

Carol,
It is definitely not a stupid question. We will not have to take it out of the water since the Kanawha River rarely freezes (between the current and there is a large electric generating station upstream which adds thermal pollution (fancy words for hot water). In the event that we would have an extended freeze, there are items that can be purchased to prevent ice from forming (agitators that can be mounted to the dock edges). Most places up north do have to remove the floating docks in the winter, but we should not. I would hate to have to pull the dock structure out of the water since the total weight would be estimated at about 5 tons!!

Hey Bingo; it’s really looking nice!
If you have to take it out of the water for some reason, rig a jig that will lift it straight up out of the water about 2 feet or so. Of course you might need an extra pylon or 2!

What a difference from a few weeks ago. I can hardly wait to see the finished product when you install the hookups (sewer, water and electric) since it looks big enough to park an RV, too.

What a great setting you have there! Makes me miss our boating days. What body of water are you on?

Greener,
You are looking at the Kanawha River at Winfield, WV about 33 miles upstream of where the Kanawha flows into the Ohio River. We are about a mile upstream of the Winfield Locks and Dam (it is visible from the front yard which faces the river). The river at this point is about 900 feet wide.
Phil,
I will have to admit that the bridge is not my doing, remember that I am a Mining Engineer not a Bridge Engineer.

Looking good Bingo, yep a few modifications and I can see a 3400 parked out there with a boat tied up next to it.
